News & Updates

Lately

Lately, I've been spending time working on some various Django applications:

Devhoured, for instance was a place to share, and record what you eat. There's not much in the way of documentation, or anything as it was designed more for my use. I did however add some up/down voting which fed a recommendation system, and I also explored some message patterns as described in "Monolog Boxes and Transparent Messages"—though not exactly. At some point in the future, I'll open up the source. If you want it now, just ask.

Newshoured, which aims to be a simple source of local news (probably world and national too), updated every hour. I haven't worked on it in ages though. I plan to publish the data I have, and the source for the application.

To use for my new blog (and eventually this site), I started to write a blog engine called Modest. It works well enough for me to post to SIGUSR2, so I haven't done much more with it. It needs to support tagging better, generate feeds per tag, and allow for multiple blogs, among other things.

I'm still reading and trying to become more familiar with programming language theory, and am auditing a class about Compilers at the University of Pennsylvania for the Fall 2008 semester.

Often

I'm still posting to Photub, a photography blog with lots of links to information around the web. Updates have been less and less frequent due mostly to Philadelphia's cold, crappy weather. I've found that the number of pictures I take directly correlates to the number of posts I make, which makes sense.
